City quitter

City Quitters portrays creative pioneers pursuing alternative ways of living and working away from big cities. What does it mean to leave city life behind? Can the reality of living in the countryside fulfil our desire for a better, simpler, more creative life?

From experimental co-habitation in a renaissance castle to oversized artworks on a farm, the City Quitters phemomenon offers a global perspective on creative post-urban life.

Witnessing an emerging process, Karen started to question herself about what’s missing so much in the urban daily life that pushes so many people to leave it. She coined the term “City Quitters”, arguing about creative pioneers pursuing alternative ways to live and to work far away from cities. This is a talk about the potential of the rural context as a place for creative practice.
